MapGridder is a browser-based map tool. We try to collect as little about you as possible. Here is the short version of what we do and what you control. Questions? Email help@mapgridder.com.
What we collect
- Pseudonymous analytics via our analytics provider: page views, country (from your IP), device type, and a pseudonymous cookie ID. Used to understand traffic, nothing else.
- Advertising cookies from our advertising provider, used to serve ads. In the EU, UK, and Switzerland these are blocked until you say yes in the cookie banner.
- Your map state (grid settings, measurements, waypoints, annotations) is saved to your browser's local storage under
mapgridder:autosave. It never leaves your device. Clear it any time from File → Clear All in the app. - Account info: only if you choose to sign in. Signing in is optional; when you do, we keep a few basic details (like your name, email, and profile picture) so we can recognize you next time. Don't sign in and we never collect any of it.
Your choices
In the EU, UK, and Switzerland, cookies stay off until you accept them in the banner. You can change your choice any time via in the footer.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, etc.) you may have the right to access, delete, or export your data. If you've signed in, you can ask us to delete your account and the details tied to it. Otherwise the only data we hold about you is the pseudonymous analytics and ad identifiers above. To exercise any right, email help@mapgridder.com.
The fine print
We rely on a few third-party providers, each under its own privacy policy: an analytics and advertising provider (which sets the cookies described above), a map-tile and place-search provider, the open map-data project our maps are built on, a public wildfire-data source, a sign-in provider used only if you choose to sign in, and our hosting provider. Some process data in the US; we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. The site is intended for users 16 and older. We may update this policy; the date above always reflects the latest version.
