On-prem mission planning with map anchoring

Deploy the grid, symbol, and overlay toolset inside your own network. Air-gapped or on-prem, with georeferenced map anchoring and your own imagery, so operational map data never leaves your environment.

Licensing

MapGridder is free for personal and non-commercial use. Commercial and organizational use is licensed and paid: on-prem and air-gapped deployments are quoted to the requirement, and commercial use of the public web app needs a commercial license. Tell us how you intend to use it and we will point you to the right option.

Why on-prem matters

The public web app is the right tool for open planning and education. It is not the right tool when your map content is sensitive, your network is controlled, or your organization requires an authority to operate before any software touches operational data. For those environments, the same capability needs to run where you control it.

An on-prem deployment puts the entire toolset inside your boundary. No outbound calls, no third-party analytics, no operational geometry transiting a commercial service. Your data stays your data, which is often the difference between a tool you can actually field and one you cannot.

What the deployment includes

  • Self-hosted or air-gapped: runs inside your network, including fully disconnected environments with no public internet.
  • Georeferenced map anchoring: bring your own scanned sheets, products, or imagery and pin them to real-world coordinates, with an MGRS or metric grid aligned on top.
  • Your imagery and basemaps: serve tiles from inside your boundary instead of a public provider.
  • Full planning toolset: MGRS and custom grids, tactical symbols, effect-radius rings, annotations, distance measurement, and exportable overlays.
  • No data egress: plans, overlays, and exports remain within your infrastructure.

Who it is for

  • Defense and government units operating on controlled networks.
  • Public-safety and emergency-management organizations.
  • Training schools and programs that standardize on their own products.
  • Any team that cannot send operational map data to a public web service.

How an engagement works

  1. Contact: tell us your environment, mission, and constraints.
  2. Scope: we confirm the deployment model (cloud-isolated, on-prem, or air-gapped) and your basemap and imagery sources.
  3. Deploy: you receive an installable package, integration guidance, and support.

Frequently asked questions

Can this run fully air-gapped, with no internet access?

Yes. The deployment is designed to operate inside a closed network with no outbound connectivity. The grid and coordinate computation already run locally; in an on-prem configuration the basemap and imagery are served from inside your boundary as well, so the system functions with no public internet at all.

Does any data leave our environment?

No. In an on-prem or air-gapped deployment, map content, plans, overlays, and exports stay within your infrastructure. There are no third-party analytics, no external map calls, and no telemetry leaving your boundary. This is the core difference from the public web app.

What is map anchoring?

Map anchoring (georeferencing) lets you bring your own raster: a scanned map sheet, a printed product, or an imagery tile set, and pin it to real-world coordinates so an MGRS or metric grid lines up over it. It means you can plan on the exact product your unit already uses, not just a generic basemap.

Who is this for?

Defense and government units, public-safety and emergency-management organizations, and training programs that operate on controlled networks or cannot send operational map data to a public service. If your environment requires an authority to operate or accreditation, on-prem is the path.

How do we get started?

Contact the team with your environment and use case. We scope the deployment (cloud-isolated, on-prem, or air-gapped), confirm your basemap and imagery sources, and provide an installable package plus support. Engagements are quoted to the requirement.
