MGRS Plotter: Plot Coordinates on a Map
Paste one MGRS grid or a whole list, one per line, and each one lands as a numbered pin on a live MapGridder map. A short grid like 14R MR 59 46 is a 1 km square, so it is drawn as a square, not a false point. Open the full map to draw, measure and plan on the pins. Free for personal use, nothing is uploaded.
What the plotter accepts
Any MGRS precision, from a 100 km square (14R MR) to 1 m (14R MR 59108 46371), spaces or not. UTM, lat/long, GARS, Maidenhead and Plus Code lines plot too, each labelled with its format. The pins then open in MapGridder, where you lay the MGRS grid over them, draw, measure, place tactical symbols and print at a true scale.
Why a short grid is drawn as a square
A 4-figure grid names a 1 km square, a 6-figure grid a 100 m square. Drawing a pin at its centre would claim a precision the grid does not have. The plotter draws the square and puts the number in the middle, so a briefing reads the way the grid was given.
Frequently asked questions
How do I plot an MGRS coordinate on a map?
Paste the grid into the box. The pin appears on the map under it, with the lat/long beside it. Paste several lines to plot several at once.
Can I paste a list from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Copy the column and paste it. One grid per line. The page plots the first three; open the full map for a longer list. A header row is skipped as an unreadable line, not an error.
Where is MGRS grid 14RMR5910846371?
At Laredo, Texas, on the Rio Grande: 27.5405 north, 99.4142 west, a 1 m reference in zone 14R, square MR. Paste it above to see the spot.
Is the plotter free?
Personal and non-commercial use is free; commercial use needs a paid license. Nothing is uploaded: the grids are converted in your browser.
Can I keep the pins?
Open them on the full map. There they are waypoints you can rename, export as GPX, KML or GeoJSON, print at a true scale, or share as a link.
